✧ He went out, and they traveled with him toward Makkah. When they were at the pass of al-Kharrār from al-Juḥfa, Sahl b. Ḥunayf bathed. He was a white man with a handsome body and skin. ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿa, the brother of Banū ʿAdī b. Kaʿb, looked at him while he was bathing and said: I have not seen today, nor a skin of a hidden maiden. Sahl was struck down, so they came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said to him: O Messenger of God, do you have any remedy for Sahl? By God, he does not raise his head and does not regain consciousness! He said: Do you suspect anyone regarding him? They said: ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿa looked at him. The Messenger of God ﷺ called ʿĀmir, became angry with him, and said: Why would one of you kill his brother? Why, when you see something that pleases you, do you not invoke blessing? Then he said to him: Bathe for him! So he washed his face, his hands, his elbows, his knees, the tips of his feet, and the inside of his lower garment in a bowl, then that water was poured over him, a man pouring it over his head and back from behind him, then he tilted the bowl behind him. He did that for him, and Sahl went with the people, with no harm.
