✧ Malik b. Nudlah, Father of Abu al-Ahwas

حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ التَّيْمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزَّعْرَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مَالِكِ بْنِ نَضْلَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

الْأَيْدِي ثَلَاثَةٌ؛ فَيَدُ اللهِ الْعُلْيَا، وَيَدُ الْمُعْطِي الَّتِي تَلِيهَا، وَيَدُ السَّائِلِ السُّفْلَى، فَأَعْطِ الْفَضْلَ وَلَا تَعْجِزْ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ.

✧ Hands are three: the hand of God is the highest, the hand of the giver that comes next, and the hand of the beggar is the lowest. So give what is surplus, and do not fail yourself.
