✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me wearing worn-out clothes and said: 'Do you have wealth?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Of what kind?' I said: 'Of every kind. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has given me sheep and camels.' He said: 'Then let the blessings of Allah and His honor be seen upon you.'

machine translationIt is narrated by al-Shaʿbī, Abū al-Zaʿrāʾ ʿAmr b. ʿAmr b. the brother of Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr and Salamah b. Kuhayl, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, from his father. There is disagreement about Abū Isḥāq: al-Thawrī, Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq, Yūsuf b. Isḥāq b. Abī Isḥāq, al-Masʿūdī, Maʿmar, Sharīk, Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh, ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. al-Ḥasan and Muḥammad b. Jābir narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, from his father. Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid also narrated it, and there is disagreement about him: Muḥammad b. Yazīd al-Wāsiṭī gave it a connected chain (musnad) from Ismāʿīl, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, from his father, while Yaʿlā b. ʿUbayd narrated it as a mursal report from Ismāʿīl, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, who said: My father came to the Messenger of God ﷺ. Likewise Abū al-Aḥwaṣ said, from Abū Isḥāq. Ibn ʿAwn also narrated this hadith from a man of the people of Kufa whom he did not name, from al-Aḥwaṣ or Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, and he accomplished nothing. The correct statement is the statement of al-Thawrī and those who followed him.
