✧ I entered the mosque of Kufa when its mosque was first built, and it was in the date-palm groves at that time, and its walls were of soft earth. There was a man narrating to the people. He said: 'I learned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was performing the Farewell Pilgrimage, so I prepared a mount from my camels and set out until I sat for him on the road to Arafah, or stood for him on the road to Arafah.' He said: 'Then there came a group of riders among whom I recognized the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by his description. A man in front of him said: "Clear the way for the riding beasts!" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Woe to him! What is the matter with him?" I drew near to him until the heads of the two she-camels met. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, guide me to a deed that will admit me to Paradise and save me from the Fire." He said: "Excellent, excellent! If you have been brief in speech, you have been thorough in asking. Understand then: you worship Allah, Mighty and Majestic, associating nothing with Him; you establish the prayer; you give the zakah; you perform the pilgrimage to the House; and you fast Ramadan. Clear the way for the riding beasts!"'
