حَدَّثَنَا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُعَيْدُ
كُنَّا نُؤْتَى بِالشَّارِبِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِي إِمْرَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَصَدْرًا مِنْ إِمْرَةِ عُمَرَ، فَنَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ فَنَضْرِبُهُ بِأَيْدِينَا وَنِعَالِنَا وَأَرْدِيَتِنَا، حَتَّى كَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمْرَةِ عُمَرَ فَجَلَدَ فِيهَا أَرْبَعِينَ حَتَّى إِذَا عَتَوْا فِيهَا وَفَسَقُوا جَلَدَ ثَمَانِينَ
Translation
Chain of narrators

✧ A drunkard would be brought to us during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the rule of Abu Bakr and the early part of 'Umar's rule, and we would stand and beat him with our hands, sandals, and cloaks, until the early part of 'Umar's rule when he flogged them forty lashes, then when they became defiant and dissolute, he flogged them eighty.
