Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Hushaym Khbrnā ʿAlī b. Zayd
  2. Yūsuf b. Mihrān
  3. Ibn ʿAbbās Qālakhaṭab ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

✧ ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb gave a sermon—and Hushaym once said: he addressed us—and he praised God [Almighty] and extolled Him, and he mentioned stoning and said: Do not be deceived away from it, for it is a limit among the limits of God [Almighty]. Indeed, the Messenger of God ﷺ stoned, and we stoned after him. Were it not that people might say: ʿUmar added to the Book of God, Mighty and Majestic, what is not part of it, I would have written it in a margin of the muṣḥaf. ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb testified.
