✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said while he was on the road to Makkah: “Who will get ahead of us to al-Uthāyah?” — he said: Abū Uways, and it is where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had startled us — “and plaster its cistern, and go early to it and fill it, so that we may come to it.” He said: Jabbār said: I stood up and said: “I will.” He said: “Go.” So I went, and I came to al-Uthāyah, and I plastered its cistern and went early to it and filled it. Then my eyes overcame me and I slept, and I did not wake except to a man whose riding camel was pulling him toward the water while he was restraining it from it. He said: “O keeper of the cistern,” and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: “Yes.” He said: Then he let his riding camel drink, then he turned away and made it kneel. Then he said: “Follow me with the water skin.” So I followed him with it, and he performed ablution and did his ablution well, and I performed ablution with him. Then he stood to pray, and I stood on his left, and he took my hand and turned me to his right, and we prayed. It was not long before the people came.
