  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThis is a hadith narrated by al-Zuhrī, and there is disagreement about it from him. Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd narrated it from Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, from al-Zuhrī, from Muḥammad b. Abī Sufyān, from Yūsuf b. al-Ḥakam, from Muḥammad b. Saʿd, from Saʿd. There is disagreement about Ibrāhīm as well: it is said that he narrated it from Yūsuf b. al-Ḥakam, from Saʿd, and both statements from him are preserved (maḥfūẓ). They said that he narrated it in Medina and said in it "from Muḥammad b. Saʿd", then afterwards he left out Muḥammad b. Saʿd. Maʿmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī and said "from ʿUmar b. Saʿd, from Saʿd", and Maʿmar erred in it. The correct version is the hadith of Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān. ʿUqayl narrated it in mursal form and said "from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿd", without mentioning anyone between them. Ibn Abī Dhiʾb said, from al-Zuhrī, that it reached him from Saʿd. The hadith of Ṣāliḥ is the correct one. Saʿīd b. Sulaymān narrated it from Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Madanī, a teacher of his, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿĀmir b. Saʿd, and this is an error (wahm). The correct version is the hadith of al-Zuhrī from Muḥammad b. Abī Sufyān.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Dāraquṭnī was asked about it and said: Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd narrated it from Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, from al-Zuhrī, from Muḥammad b. Abī Sufyān, from Yūsuf b. al-Ḥakam, from Muḥammad b. Saʿd, from Saʿd. Maʿmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī and said: from ʿUmar b. Saʿd, and Maʿmar was mistaken (wahima) in it. The correct (ṣaḥīḥ) version is the hadith of Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān. Saʿīd b. Sulaymān narrated it from Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Madanī, a teacher of his, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿĀmir b. Saʿd, from Saʿd, and that is an error (wahm). The correct version is the hadith of al-Zuhrī from Muḥammad b. Abī Sufyān.
