✧ I heard al-Hasan b. Muhammad b. 'Ali b. Abi Talib asking Jabir b. Abdullah al-Ansari, the brother of Banu Salimah, about the major ablution (ghusl) from janabah. Jabir said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would pour three handfuls of water over his head with his hands, then pour water over his skin.' He said: Al-Hasan said to him: 'My hair is thick and I fear that three handfuls with my hands will not wash it.' Jabir said to him: 'The head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was thicker and better than your head.'
