حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَكْلِ الْبَصَلِ وَالْكُرَّاثِ فَغَلَبَتْنَا الْحَاجَةُ فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ الْمُنْتِنَةِ فَلَا يَقْرَبَنَّ مَسْجِدَنَا، فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَتَأَذَّى مِمَّا يَتَأَذَّى مِنْهُ الْإِنْسُ.

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating onions and leeks. Then necessity overcame us and we ate some of it, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever eats from this stinking plant should not come near our mosque, for the angels are harmed by what harms humans.'
