✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims, intending only the Hajj and nothing else, until when we reached Sarif, A'ishah menstruated. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she was weeping and said: What is the matter that you weep? She said: O Messenger of Allah, I have been afflicted with the ailment. He said: You are only among the daughters of Adam; you are affected by what affects them. He said: We reached the Ka'bah after four days or nights had passed of Dhu al-Hijjah, and we circumambulated the House and went between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us, and we exited the state of ihram completely. He said: We discussed among ourselves and said: We set out as pilgrims, intending only the Hajj and nothing else, until when there was only four days or nights between us and 'Arafat, we went out to 'Arafat with our private parts dripping semen from women. He said: That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he stood as a preacher and said: Indeed, the 'umrah has entered into the Hajj. If I had known earlier what I know now, I would not have driven the sacrificial animals, and had it not been for the sacrificial animals, I would have exited ihram. So whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him, let him exit ihram. Suragah b. Malik b. Ju'shum stood and said: O Messenger of Allah, inform us of the ruling for a people as if they were born today: is it for this year of ours or forever? He said: No, rather forever. He said: We came to 'Arafat and departed from it. Then A'ishah said: O Messenger of Allah, I feel in my heart that they have performed 'umrah. He said: You have the like of what they have. She said: O Messenger of Allah, I feel in my heart. So he stood at the upper part of the valley of Makkah and commanded her brother 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr, and he seated her behind him until she reached al-Tan'im, then she returned.
