✧ Umar asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of God ﷺ while there were women from Quraysh with him, talking to him and raising their voices above his. When he asked permission, they got up and hurried behind the screen. The Messenger of God ﷺ gave him permission—meaning he entered—while the Messenger of God ﷺ was laughing. Umar said, "May God make you smile, O Messenger of God." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "I was amazed at those who were with me; when they heard your voice, they hurried behind the screen." Umar said, "You, O Messenger of God, were more deserving of their fear." Then Umar said, "O enemies of your own selves, do you fear me but not the Messenger of God ﷺ?" They said, "Yes, for you are rougher and harsher than the Messenger of God ﷺ." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "By Him in whose hand is my soul, Satan has never encountered you walking down a path except that he took a path other than yours."
