حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ

أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِكِلَابِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ، فَجَاءَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مَنْزِلِي شَاسِعٌ، وَلِي كَلْبٌ. فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ أَيَّامًا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ كَلْبِهِ.

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ ordered for all the dogs in the city to be killed. Then, the son of Umm Maktoom came and said, "I have a spacious house and I have a dog that helps me." So, he was given permission to keep his dog for a few days, but then the dog was ordered to be killed.
