✧ A son of Abū Ṭalḥa died. Umm Sulaym said: "Do not inform Abū Ṭalḥa until I am the one who tells him." She covered him. When Abū Ṭalḥa came, she placed food before him and he ate. Then she adorned herself for him, and he had intercourse with her, and she became pregnant with a boy. She said: "O Abū Ṭalḥa, the family of so-and-so borrowed a loan from the family of so-and-so. They sent to them: 'Send us our loaned property,' but they refused to return it." Abū Ṭalḥa said: "They have no right to do that. A loan must be returned to its owners." She said: "Your son was a loan from God, Mighty and Majestic, and God, Mighty and Majestic, has taken him back." So he said: "To God we belong and to Him we return." Anas said: The Prophet ﷺ was informed of that, and he said: "May God bless them in their night." He said: She became pregnant with a boy and gave birth. Umm Sulaym sent me with him to the Prophet ﷺ, and I carried some dates. I brought him to the Prophet ﷺ while he was wearing a cloak and was tarring a camel of his. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Do you have any dates with you?" He said: I said: "Yes." He took the dates and put them in his mouth and chewed them. Then he gathered his saliva, opened his mouth, and put it into the child's mouth. The child began to smack his lips. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "The Ansar love dates." He performed tahnik for him and named him ʿAbd Allah. There was no young man among the Ansar better than him.
