✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ left the slain of Badr for three days until they decomposed, then came to them and stood over them, saying: "O Umayya b. Khalaf, O Abū Jahl b. Hishām, O ʿUtba b. Rabīʿa, O Shayba b. Rabīʿa, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true." He said: Then ʿUmar heard his voice and said: "O Messenger of God, you call to them after three days, and do they hear? God, Mighty and Majestic, says: 'You cannot make the dead hear.'" So he said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, you are not more able to hear than they are, but they cannot answer."
