✧ A man called out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on Friday while he was delivering the sermon to the people in Madinah, saying: "O Messenger of Allah, the rain has withheld, the land has become barren, and the people are suffering; so ask your Lord to send us rain." The Prophet ﷺ looked at the sky, and we did not see many clouds. He prayed for rain, and the clouds gathered together, then they were rained upon until the water channels of Madinah flowed and its streets became running rivers. It continued like that until the following Friday without ceasing. Then that man or another said, while the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon: "O Prophet of Allah, supplicate Allah to withhold it from us." The Prophet of Allah ﷺ smiled, then said: "O Allah, around us and not upon us." He supplicated to his Lord, and the clouds began to break away from Madinah to the right and to the left, raining around it but not raining anything upon it.
