✧ That the tribes of Riʿl, Waʿsaya, Dhakwan, and Banī Lahyan came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him that they had embraced Islam and sought his support against their people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ provided them with seventy of the Ansar, whom we used to call "Qurra" (reciters) during their time. They used to gather provisions during the day and pray at night. When they reached the well of Maʿunah, they were betrayed and killed. The Prophet ﷺ then observed a month praying against the tribes of ʿUsayyah, Riʿl, Dhakwan, and Banī Lahyan, and Anas informed us that we recited the verse concerning them. Inform our people that we have met our Lord and He was pleased with us and we were pleased with Him. Then these verses were abrogated or lifted.
