✧ Anas b. al-Nadr was absent from the fighting at Badr, and he said: 'I missed the first battle the Prophet ﷺ witnessed. If I see any fighting, God will surely see what I do.' When the day of Uhud came and the companions of the Prophet ﷺ were routed, Anas came forward and saw Sa'd b. Mu'adh fleeing. He said: 'O Abu 'Amr, where to? Where to? Rise! By Him in whose hand is my soul, I find the scent of Paradise before Uhud.' He charged until he was killed. Sa'd b. Mu'adh said: 'By Him in whose hand is my soul, I could not do what he did.' His sister said: 'I only recognized my brother by his fingertips. He had eighty-some wounds, between sword strikes, arrow shots, and spear thrusts.' Then God, Mighty and Majestic, sent down concerning him: 'Among the believers are men who have been true to what they pledged to God' up to His saying 'any change.'
