حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ الْعَضْبَاءَ كَانَتْ لَا تُسْبَقُ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ عَلَى قَعُودٍ لَهُ فَسَابَقَهَا فَسَبَقَهَا الْأَعْرَابِيُّ، فَكَأَنَّ ذَلِكَ اشْتَدَّ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] أَنْ لَا يَرْفَعَ شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا وَضَعَهُ

Translation

✧ Al-'Adba' was never outrun. A Bedouin came on a young camel of his and raced her, and the Bedouin outran her. That seemed hard on the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'It is a right upon God [Mighty and Majestic] that He does not raise anything of this world but that He lowers it.'
