حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ وَلَهُمْ يَوْمَانِ يَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَا هَذَانِ الْيَوْمَانِ؟ قَالُوا: كُنَّا نَلْعَبُ فِيهِمَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، قَالَ: إِنَّ اللهَ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمْ بِهِمَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَيَوْمَ النَّحْرِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah while they had two days on which they played. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What are these two days? They said: We used to play on them in the Jahiliyyah. He said: Indeed, Allah [Mighty and Majestic] has replaced them for you with something better than them: the Day of Fitr and the Day of Sacrifice.
