✧ The believers will be detained on the Day of Resurrection and will be distressed by that. They will say: 'If only we could seek intercession with our Lord [Mighty and Majestic] so that He might relieve us from this place of ours.' So they will come to Adam and say: 'You are our father [whom] Allah created with His hand, and before whom He made His angels prostrate, and whom He taught the names of all things. Intercede for us with your Lord.' He said: He will say: 'I am not the one for that.' And he will mention his sin which he committed: eating from the tree when he had been forbidden from it. 'But go to Nuh, the first prophet Allah sent to the people of the earth.' He said: They will come to Nuh, and he will say: 'I am not the one for that.' And he will mention his sin: his asking his Lord [Mighty and Majestic] about what he had no knowledge of. 'But go to Ibrahim, the intimate friend of the Merciful [Mighty and Majestic].' They will come to Ibrahim, and he will say: 'I am not the one for that.' And he will mention the sins he committed: three lies he told; his saying: 'I am sick'; his saying: 'Rather, the biggest of them did it'; and that he came upon a tyrannical ruler who lived in luxury with his wife, and he said to her: 'Tell him that I am your brother, for I will tell him that you are my sister.' 'But go to Musa, a servant to whom Allah spoke directly and to whom He gave the Torah.' He said: They will come to Musa, and he will say: 'I am not the one for that.' And he will mention his sin which he committed: killing a man. 'But go to 'Isa, the servant of Allah and His Messenger, and His word and His spirit.' They will come to 'Isa, and he will say: 'I am not the one for that. But go to Muhammad, the servant of Allah and His Messenger, [may Allah forgive] his past and future sins.' He said: They will come to me, and I will ask permission from my Lord [Mighty and Majestic] to enter His presence, and permission will be granted to me. When I see Him, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then He will say: 'Raise your head, Muhammad. Speak, and you will be heard; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted; ask, and you will be given.' I will raise my head and praise my Lord [Mighty and Majestic] with praises and commendations He will teach me. Then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, and I will bring them out and admit them to Paradise." And I heard him say: "I will bring them out of the Fire and admit them to Paradise. Then I will ask permission from my Lord [Mighty and Majestic] a second time, and permission will be granted to me. When I see Him, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then He will say: 'Raise your head, Muhammad. Speak, and you will be heard; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted; ask, and you will be given.'" He said: "I will raise my head and praise my Lord with praises and commendations He will teach me. Then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, and I will bring them out and admit them to Paradise." Hammam said: "And also I heard him say: 'I will bring them out of the Fire and admit them to Paradise.'" He said: "Then I will ask permission from my Lord [Mighty and Majestic] a third time. When I see Him, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then He will say: 'Raise your head, Muhammad. Speak, and you will be heard; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted; ask, and you will be given.' I will raise my head and praise my Lord with praises and commendations He will teach me. Then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, and I will bring them out and admit them to Paradise." Hammam said: "And I heard him say: 'I will bring them out of the Fire and admit them to Paradise, until no one remains in the Fire except those whom the Quran has detained, i.e., those for whom eternal punishment has become obligatory.'"
