✧ I am the most knowledgeable of the people - or among the most knowledgeable of the people - about the verse of the veil. The Prophet ﷺ married Zaynab bt. Jahsh and slaughtered a sheep, then invited his companions. They ate and sat talking. The Prophet ﷺ began to go out and come in while they were still seated; then he would go out and remain as long as Allah willed and return while they were still seated. Zaynab was sitting in a corner of the house. The Prophet ﷺ began to feel shy to say anything to them, so the verse was revealed: 'O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless you are given permission for a meal, without waiting for its preparation. But when you are invited, enter...' up to His words, Mighty and Majestic: '...then ask them from behind a veil.' He said: So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the veil to be put up right away, and it was struck.
