حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ

كَانَ يُغِيرُ عِنْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ فَيَسْتَمِعُ الْأَذَانَ، فَإِذَا سَمِعَ أَذَانًا أَمْسَكَ وَإِلَّا أَغَارَ، فَاسْتَمَعَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ؛ فَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، فَقَالَ: خَرَجْتَ مِنَ النَّارِ

Translation

✧ He used to raid at the time of the dawn prayer and would listen for the call to prayer. If he heard a call to prayer, he would hold back; otherwise, he would raid. One day he listened and heard a man saying: “Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “He is upon the natural disposition.” Then he said: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.” So he said: “You have come out of the Fire.”
