✧ The king of the Romans gifted the Prophet ﷺ a fur-lined garment of fine silk, and he wore it. It is as if I am looking at its sleeves swaying back and forth from their length. The people began to say: “O Messenger of Allah, has this been sent down upon you from heaven?” He said: “What amazes you about it? By the One in whose hand is my soul, a handkerchief from the handkerchiefs of Saʿd b. Muʿādh in Paradise is better than it.” Then he sent it to Jaʿfar b. Abī Ṭālib, and he wore it. The Prophet ﷺ said: “I did not give it to you for you to wear.” He said: “What should I do with it?” He said: “Send it to your brother, the Negus.”
