✧ We prayed the noon prayer with ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, then we went to Anas b. Mālik to ask about him, and he was ill. When we entered upon him, we greeted him. He said: Did you pray? We said: Yes. He said: O servant girl, bring me water for ablution. I have not prayed behind any imam after the Messenger of God ﷺ whose prayer more resembled that of the Messenger of God ﷺ than this imam of yours. ʿIṣām said in his hadith [as my father said]: Zayd said: He did not mention in that Abū Bakr nor ʿUmar. [He said:] Zayd said: ʿUmar used to complete the bowing and prostration, and lighten the sitting and standing.
