✧ Al-Hajjaj wanted to appoint his son as judge of Basra. Anas said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever seeks judgeship and asks for help to obtain it will be left to it, and whoever does not seek it and does not ask for help to obtain it, Allah sends an angel to guide him.'

machine translationIt is narrated by ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. ʿĀmir al-Taghlibī, and there is disagreement concerning him. Abū ʿAwānah narrated it from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Bilāl b. Mirdās, from Khaythamah, from Anas. Isrāʾīl contradicted him and narrated it from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Bilāl b. Abī Mūsā, from Anas, and did not mention Khaythamah. It seems that the correct view is that of Abū ʿAwānah.
