✧ When wine was forbidden, Anas said: “On that day I was serving them—serving eleven men—and they ordered me, so I overturned it, and the people overturned their vessels with what was in them, until the streets were almost blocked from its smell.” Anas said, “Their wine that day was nothing but unripe dates and ripe dates mixed together.” Then a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “I had an orphan's wealth, and I bought wine with it. Will you permit me to sell it and return the orphan's wealth to him?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “May God fight the Jews! Animal fat was forbidden to them, so they sold it and consumed its price.” And the Prophet ﷺ did not permit him to sell the wine.
