حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَوَاقِعِ نَبْلِهِ، قَالَ: فَيَتَطَاوَلُ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بِصَدْرِهِ يَقِي بِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، وَيَقُولُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، نَحْرِي دُونَ نَحْرِكَ

Translation

✧ Abu Talhah was in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would raise his head from behind him to look at the places where his arrows fell. He said: Abu Talhah would stretch out his chest to shield the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with it, saying: "O Messenger of Allah, my neck is before your neck."
