✧ On Monday, the Messenger of God ﷺ drew aside the curtain of the room and saw Abu Bakr leading the people in prayer. He said, 'I looked at his face as if it were a page of the Mushaf, and he was smiling.' He said, 'We almost became distracted in our prayer from joy at seeing the Messenger of God ﷺ. Abu Bakr wanted to step back, but he gestured to him to stay as he was. Then he let down the curtain and passed away that same day. Umar stood up and said, "The Messenger of God ﷺ has not died, but his Lord sent to him as He sent to Musa, and he stayed away from his people for forty nights. By God, I hope the Messenger of God ﷺ will live until he cuts off the hands and tongues of men among the hypocrites who claim—or he said, say—that the Messenger of God ﷺ has died."
