✧ Hawazin came on the day of Hunayn with children, women, camels, and livestock, arranging them in rows to outnumber the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they met, the Muslims turned back in retreat, as Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O servants of Allah, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. O company of the Ansar, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then Allah defeated the polytheists. 'Affan said: "No sword was struck and no spear was thrust." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that day: "Whoever kills an unbeliever, his belongings are his." Abu Talha killed twenty men that day and took their belongings. He said: Abu Qatadah said: "O Messenger of Allah, I struck a man on the shoulder strap, and he had a coat of mail, but I was forced away from him. See who took it." A man stood up and said: "I took it; satisfy him from it and give it to me." He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never asked for anything but he gave it or remained silent. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent. 'Umar said: "No, by Allah, Allah will not give it back to one of His lions and give it to you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed and said: "'Umar is right." He said: Umm Sulaym had a dagger with her. Abu Talha said: "What is this with you?" She said: "I took it so that if any of the polytheists comes near me, I will rip open his belly with it." Abu Talha said: "O Messenger of Allah, do you not hear what Umm Sulaym says?" She said: "O Messenger of Allah, kill those after us of the freed captives who fled from you." He said: "Allah has sufficed us and been good, O Umm Sulaym."
