حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ فِيكُمْ خَيْرًا مِنْكُمْ - يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ - وَتَقْرَؤُونَ كِتَابَ اللهِ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ]، فِيكُمُ الْأَحْمَرُ وَالْأَبْيَضُ، وَالْعَرَبِيُّ وَالْعَجَمِيُّ، وَسَيَأْتِي زَمَانٌ يَقْرَؤُونَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ، يَتَثَقَّفُونَهُ كَمَا يَتَثَقَّفُ الْقَدَحُ، يَتَعَجَّلُونَ أُجُورَهُمْ وَلَا يَتَأَجَّلُونَهَا

Translation

✧ He came out to us and said: 'Indeed there is among you one better than you—meaning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—and you recite the Book of Allah [Mighty and Majestic]. Among you are the red and the white, the Arab and the non-Arab. A time will come when they will recite the Quran in it, mouthing it rapidly as a cup is passed around, hastening their rewards and not delaying them.'
