حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الطَّالَقَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ [ابْنِ] الْأَصَمِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِجُبَّةِ سُنْدُسٍ، قَالَ: فَلَقِيَ عُمَرُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: بَعَثْتَ إِلَيَّ بِجُبَّةِ سُنْدُسٍ، وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَبْعَثْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَلْبَسَهَا، إِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَبِيعَهَا أَوْ تَسْتَنْفِعَ بِهَا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent 'Umar a robe of fine silk. He said: 'Umar met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: You sent me a robe of fine silk, and you said about it what you said? He said: I did not send it to you to wear it; I only sent it to you to sell it or to make use of it.
