✧ The sun eclipsed, so Ali prayed with the people. He recited Ya Sin or something similar, then bowed for about the length of a surah, then raised his head and said: 'God hears the one who praises Him.' Then he stood for the length of the surah supplicating and saying takbir, then bowed for about the length of his recitation again, then said: 'God hears the one who praises Him.' Then he stood again for the length of the surah, then bowed for about that length again, until he had prayed four units. Then he said: 'God hears the one who praises Him.' Then he prostrated, then stood for the second unit and did as he had done in the first unit. Then he sat supplicating and beseeching until the sun cleared. Then he told them that the Messenger of God ﷺ had done likewise.
