Ṭālib differed from them, and narrated it from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, from Yaḥyā b. Umm al-Ṭawīl al-Thumālī, from ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl, from ʿAlī, and he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ. Faṭr b. Khalīfah followed him in raising it, from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, from Abū Idrīs, from al-Musayyab b. Najabah, from ʿAlī. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b. Mulayl.
