حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ

سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ هَلْ خَضَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَ مِنَ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا نَحْوًا مِنْ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ، أَوْ عِشْرِينَ شَعَرَةً فِي مُقَدَّمِ لِحْيَتِهِ، وَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَشِنْ بِالشَّيْبِ، فَقِيلَ لِأَنَسٍ: أَشَيْنٌ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ: كُلُّكُمْ يَكْرَهُهُ، وَلَكِنْ خَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ وَخَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ

Translation

✧ Anas was asked: Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair? He said: He did not see any gray hair except about seventeen or twenty hairs in the front of his beard, and he said: He was not disfigured by gray hair. It was said to Anas: Is it a disfigurement? He said: All of you dislike it, but Abu Bakr dyed with henna and katam, and 'Umar dyed with henna.
