✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ raided Khaybar. [He said:] We prayed the morning prayer near it while it was still dark. The Messenger of God ﷺ mounted, and Abu Talhah mounted, and I was riding behind Abu Talhah. The Prophet of God ﷺ rode through the alleys of Khaybar. My knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet of God ﷺ, and his lower garment slipped away from his thigh, and I could see the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet of God ﷺ. When he entered the town, he said, 'God is greatest! Khaybar is destroyed! When we descend upon the courtyard of a people, evil is the morning of those who were warned.' He said it three times. He said: The people had gone out to their work, and they said, 'Muhammad!' Abdul-Aziz said: Some of our companions added, 'and the army.' He said: We conquered it by force, and the captives were gathered. Dihyah came and said, 'O Prophet of God, give me a slave girl from the captives.' He said, 'Go and take a slave girl.' So he took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of God, you gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, the lady of Qurayzah and al-Nadir. By God, she is only suitable for you.' He ﷺ said, 'Call him to bring her.' He came with her. When the Prophet ﷺ looked at her, he said, 'Take another slave girl from the captives.' Then the Prophet of God ﷺ freed her and married her. Thabit asked him, 'O Abu Hamzah, what dowry did he give her?' He said, 'Her own self; he freed her and married her.' When he was on the road, Umm Sulaym prepared her and presented her to him at night. The Prophet ﷺ became a bridegroom in the morning and said, 'Whoever has anything, let him bring it.' He spread out a leather mat. One man brought dried curd, another brought dates, and another brought clarified butter. He said: I think he also mentioned sawiq. They mixed a dish of dates, curd, and butter. That was the wedding feast of the Messenger of God ﷺ.
