✧ The wife of Safwan b. Mu'attal came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Safwan makes me break my fast when I fast, and beats me when I pray, and he does not pray the dawn prayer until the sun rises.' He sent for him and said: 'What does she say?' He said: 'As for her saying that he makes me break my fast, I am a young man and I have forbidden her to fast.' On that day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a woman to fast except with her husband's permission. He said: 'As for her saying that I beat her over prayer, she recites with my surah and thus distracts me.' He said: 'If people recited it, it would not harm you.' 'As for her saying that I do not pray until the sun rises, I am heavy-headed, and I am from a household known for that—for heaviness of head.' He said: 'When you get up, pray.'
