✧ While Usayd b. Hudayr was one night reciting in his enclosure, his horse suddenly shied, and he recited. Then it shied again, and he recited. Then it shied again, and Usayd said: I feared it would trample Yahya, meaning his son, so I went to him and saw something like a canopy above my head with what looked like lamps, ascending into the sky until I could no longer see it. He said: I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the morning and said: O Messenger of Allah, last night in the middle of the night I was reciting in my enclosure when my horse shied. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Recite, O Ibn Hudayr. He said: I recited, then it shied again. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Recite, O Ibn Hudayr. I recited, then it shied. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Recite, O Ibn Hudayr. He said: I stopped, and Yahya was near it, so I feared it would trample him. Then I saw something like a canopy with what looked like lamps, ascending into the sky until I could no longer see it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Those were angels listening to you, and if you had kept reciting, it would have remained visible to the people until morning, not concealed from them.
