✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, and Abu Bakr came after him, and some Arabs disbelieved, Umar said, "O Abu Bakr, how can you fight the people when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to fight the people until they say, "There is no god but Allah." Whoever says, "There is no god but Allah" has protected his wealth and his life from me, except for its right, and his reckoning is with Allah'?" Abu Bakr said, "By Allah, I will certainly fight." Abu al-Yaman said: "I will certainly kill those who separate prayer from zakah, for zakah is the right of wealth. By Allah, if they withheld from me a young female goat that they used to pay to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would fight them for withholding it." Umar said, "By Allah, it was only that I saw that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, had opened Abu Bakr's chest to fighting, and I knew that it was the truth."

machine translationThe wording "ʿanāqan" (a young she-goat) is more sound (aṣaḥḥ), that is, than the narration of the one who narrated "ʿiqālan" (a camel's hobble) or left it unspecified.
