✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was distributing something, Ibn Dhu al-Khuwaysirah al-Tamimi came to him and said: Be just, O Messenger of God. He said: Woe to you! Who will be just if I am not just? Umar b. al-Khattab said: O Messenger of God, do you permit me to strike his neck? The Prophet ﷺ said: Leave him, for he will have companions such that one of you would belittle his own prayer compared to their prayer, and his own fasting compared to their fasting. They will pass through the religion as an arrow passes through its target. He looks at its fletching and finds nothing on it, then he looks at its shaft and finds nothing on it, then he looks at its binding and finds nothing on it, then he looks at its arrowhead and finds nothing on it. It has already sped past the blood and dung. Among them is a black man, in one of his hands—or he said: one of his breasts—like the breast of a woman, or like a piece of flesh that quivers. They will emerge at a time of weakness among the people. Then the verse was revealed concerning them: "And among them are those who criticize you concerning the charities" (Qur'an 9:58). Abu Said said: I bear witness that I heard this from the Messenger of God ﷺ, and I bear witness that Ali, when he killed him—and I was with him—the man was brought matching the description given by the Messenger of God ﷺ.
