✧ A man was relating to Ibn Umar a hadith from Abu Said al-Khudri about exchange. When Abu Said arrived and stayed in this house, Ibn Umar took my hand and the man’s hand until we came to Abu Said. He stood before him and said: “What is this man relating from you?” Abu Said said: “Yes, my eyes saw and my ears heard,” and he pointed with his finger to his eyes and ears, “and I have not forgotten his words with his two fingers from the Messenger of God ﷺ: he forbade gold for gold and silver for silver except equal for equal, like for like. Indeed, do not sell what is absent for what is present, and do not give one of them excess over the other.”
