حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

لَا يَحْقِرَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ نَفْسَهُ أَنْ يَرَى أَمْرًا لِلهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ مَقَالٌ ثُمَّ لَا يَقُولُهُ، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ: مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ فِيهِ ؟ فَيَقُولُ: رَبِّ، خَشِيتُ النَّاسَ ! فَيَقُولُ: وَأَنَا أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَى

Translation

✧ None of you should belittle himself by seeing a matter concerning which Allah has a claim upon him and then not speaking about it, so that Allah says: 'What prevented you from speaking about it?' He says: 'My Lord, I feared the people.' So He says: 'I am more deserving that you should fear Me.'
