✧ I said to Abū Saʿīd: "Did you hear from the Messenger of God ﷺ about gold for gold and silver for silver?" He said: "I will tell you what I heard from him. The owner of his dates came to him with good dates. The dates of the Prophet ﷺ were called 'al-lawn.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: 'Where did you get these good dates?' He said: 'I took two ṣāʿs of our dates and bought a ṣāʿ of these with them.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: 'You have engaged in ribā.' He said: Then Abū Saʿīd said: 'So is dates for dates more ribā than silver for silver and gold for gold?'"
