حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَسَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمْ حَائِطًا، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ فَلْيُنَادِ: يَا صَاحِبَ الْحَائِطِ، ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ أَجَابَهُ، وَإِلَّا فَلْيَأْكُلْ. وَإِذَا مَرَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِإِبِلٍ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا - فَلْيُنَادِ: يَا صَاحِبَ الْإِبِلِ، أَوْ يَا رَاعِيَ الْإِبِلِ؛ فَإِنْ أَجَابَهُ، وَإِلَّا فَلْيَشْرَبْ، وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَمَا زَادَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ

Translation

✧ When one of you comes to a walled garden and wants to eat, let him call out: 'O owner of the garden,' three times. If he answers, then (ask his permission); otherwise, let him eat. And when one of you passes by camels and wants to drink from their milk, let him call out: 'O owner of the camels,' or 'O herder of the camels.' If he answers, then (ask); otherwise, let him drink. Hospitality is three days; whatever is beyond that is charity.
