✧ We waited for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night for the Isha prayer, until about half the night had passed. He said: Then he came and prayed with us, then said: Take your seats, for the people have taken to their beds, and you will remain in prayer as long as you have been waiting for it. Were it not for the weakness of the weak, the illness of the sick, and the need of the needy, I would have delayed this prayer until half the night.

  • Ibn Rajab

    in مسند أحمد, p. 11113

machine translationThis hadith is an error in which Abū Muʿāwiyah erred, meaning when he narrated it from Dāwūd, from Abū Naḍrah, from Jābir. I said: He did not make clear what it is. In my view, the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is what Wuhayb and Khālid al-Wāsiṭī narrated from Dāwūd, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd, from the Prophet ﷺ.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 11113
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is from Abū Saʿīd.
