حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ يَعْنِي التَّيْمِيَّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَعْنِي الرَّبَّ ﷻ

إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بُوعًا أَوْ بَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي بُوعًا أَوْ بَاعًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً.

Translation

✧ When a servant draws near to Me a handspan, I draw near to him an arm's length. When he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom. When he comes to Me walking, I come to him at speed.
