حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَقْرَضَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ بَعِيرًا فَجَاءَ يَتَقَاضَاهُ بَعِيرَهُ فَقَالَ: اطْلُبُوا لَهُ بَعِيرًا فَادْفَعُوهُ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا إِلَّا سِنًّا فَوْقَ سِنِّهِ فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَمْ نَجِدْ إِلَّا سِنًّا فَوْقَ سِنِّ بَعِيرِهِ فَقَالَ: أَعْطُوهُ، فَإِنَّ خِيَارَكُمْ أَحَاسِنُكُمْ قَضَاءً.

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed a camel from a man. The man came to demand his camel back. He said: "Find a camel for him and give it to him." They found only a camel of an age above his camel's age. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, we found only a camel older than his camel." He said: "Give it to him, for the best of you are those who are best in repaying debts."
