حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ، فَأَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ جَلَدْتُهُ قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ: أَوْ سَبَبْتُهُ أَوْ لَعَنْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ زَكَاةً وَأَجْرًا، وَقُرْبَةً تُقَرِّبُهُ بِهَا عِنْدَكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.

Translation

✧ O Allah, I am only a human being. So any Muslim whom I have flogged—Ibn Ja'far said: or insulted or cursed—make it a purification and a reward for him, and a means of nearness by which You bring him close to You on the Day of Resurrection.
