حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ عَنْ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ
مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ أَقَمْتُ عَلَيْهِ حَدًّا، فَمَاتَ، فَأَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي إِلَّا الْخَمْرَ، فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ مَاتَ لَوَدَيْتُهُ؛ لِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يَسُنَّهُ
Translation

✧ There is no man upon whom I have carried out a prescribed punishment and he died, and I find anything in myself, except for wine. For if he had died, I would have paid his blood money, because the Prophet ﷺ did not institute it.
