Translation

✧ From Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān: “The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were not stiff or pretentiously solemn. They used to recite poetry in their gatherings and mention matters of their pre-Islamic days. But if one of them was asked about something concerning the command of Allah, his eyes would roll as if he were possessed.”
